BROWSE PREFERENCE probably isn't what you want either. <g>
Edit and Browse are really the same command, internally. Just different
presentations. Take a look at the View menu while you have a browse or edit
window open. The first two options are Browse and Edit, and they're mutually
exclusive. It's a toggle.
Fox has historically (back to 1.0, I think) remembered the last thing you
did (in the same session, but a resource file will carry to the next
session).
