Thanks Rick,
Just needed pointing in the right direction. As a foxbase programmer
(possibly the last active?) I have no ideas about gui programming, the
terms used and also I find the help not very helpful.
On the upside I have obtained a copy of Hentzenwerke's
"fundementals..... " it is a revelation, well written (though I still
don't get joining 3 files via sql - oh well, I have developed a cludge
to get round it using an intermediate table), easy to read and I am
steaming through it as fast as possible.
I apologize if my questions are basic, I couldn't find a begginers group
(if there is one I would be grateful for its location), I do try to
find the answers myself as a matter of personal pride and only resort ot
posting when I get really stuck (like when I messed up a three file
select statement that eventually returned 30+ million records instead of
the couple of hundred I expected and hung my machine up for ages).
But I have to say this is more fun than:
clear
@0,0 to 23,79
@10,10 say "Enter Company No : " get mcomp pict "99" valid mcomp>0
read
Which I considered "gui" programming before!!!
... and I am starting to enjoy using VFP and the more I use it the more
proficient I am becoming, so hopefully will not have to ask.
Many Apologies,
Steve.
