Check box checking & application loads slow

Two problems I'd appreciate any suggestions with [VFP8, XP(dev and client)]:

1) At some point when using the check boxes on a pageframe they don't check
right away. I click and I can see it has focus (with the little outline
around the caption) but the check doesn't show up until I click on another
object. Different check boxes react same way regardless of their different
properties/methods (some have no valid code) and it doesn't do this all the
time or initially, it just seems to all of sudden begin behaving this way.

2) When loading the app on one of the clients PCs it may take 30 seconds or
more for it to come up. After it comes up it works fine and fast but if you
get out and come back in the pause is there again. This never happens on my
dev PC and doesn't happen all the time on that one client PC. I believe it
started after I did a second conversion of their data (from Access). System
is not live yet but will be soon and at that point I will convert again
(convert-I have the dbc set up in fox with views, etc. - creating the dbfs
each time with structure changes, indexes, etc.). I thought I had it
narrowed down to one of the grids on one of the pages in a pageframe, maybe
the recordsource of one of the combo boxes in one of the columns but I'm not
sure (e.g. deleting that grid object from the pageframe and then it seems to
load fast). Default data session of the initial formset - dataload method
called from the load event of the formset.
