I wouldn't get too worried about this yet. About all that announcement means is that you won't be able to download it anymore from MS and they won't take any more trouble reports for it. As long as you have a copy to use on your system (and your client's systems), you should be able to use it for quite a while.
I'd expect that there will be a new "technology" that will be a variant of SOAP and that it would be announced before 7/1/2004!
