Re: Windows did not start successfully....

Go to another computer, make a knoppix CD,
boot your laptop from CD on knoppix.

Fix the file corruption, and go forth.

If you can't fix the file corruption, set up the SAMBA server in Knoppix,
transfer your files out to another machine via an ethernet hub.

Good Luck
and no, you did not post your question in the right place.

My laptop was working perfectly fine earlier this morning. I switched it
off
as normal. Later i switched it back on and it would not boot. I was met
with
a screen that read:

We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start
successfully.
A recent hardware or software change might have caused this....

I was offered the following start up options:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows normally

I have been thru each option several times and I keep returning to this
same
screen. Having read thru various discussion forums on this topic I have
read
that I need my XP Installation CD to boot from the disc. Here is the
problem,
I do not have an installation CD, Windows XP Home Edition was already
installed on my laptop. My computer is a Tiny, but they are not trading
anymore so I cannot contact them. I am at a loss and profoundly
frustrated.
Any help! Thanks.
