Hi,
I'm assuming Exchange 5.5 is in the same site, correct me if I'm wrong. I
have some questions and suggestions to help resolve your issue.

1.) First off can the Exchange 5.5 users send to the Exchange 200x users
with no problems?
2.) Did the decomissioned server contain the SRS database and ADC? Were
they moved with no problems before the server removal and do new users seem
to be updating in both directories in both directions?
3.) If you enable message tracking, does the message tracking ever show the
message attempting to hit the MTA/X.400 queues or straight to the Internet.

If new users created in Exchange 5.5 are being replicated to the Active
Directory next check to see if you can send e-mail to those users. If you
can send to new 5.5 users but not to preexisting users then compare the
directory properties of the old users versus the new users using directory
viewing utility such as adsiedit or ldp. In particular ensure that the old
5.5 users have valid homemta homemdb values. It sounds like they don't so
don't know how to route them via the MTA and instead send them out over
SMTP which is our only option left in attempting to deliver.

I have recently decommissoned our first exchange 2000 server. Although I
have transfered all connectors and references over to the new server, since
getting rid of the first server all mail going to our exchagne 5.5 server
gets routed via the Internet. I've setup the x.400 addressing and also the
smtp addresses but nothing seems to work????
