Well it "expired" today. As you said I can restart the service and I thought
if I set the recovery to restart the service that might work but since the
server was "stopped" and didn't crash that option doesn't work. Heard from
the board today and they will not decide till May so I told them the options
were few. Considering loading another 2K03 trial server in a Virtual PC and
then loading Exchange trial and makign the move you suggested but the
current server is taxed already thus the reason for upgrading in the first
place and the only PC with enough power to do that is also being used by a
power users running a pretty big database app so it's not a good choice
either.
A batch file to restart the serivce would also work however it does not look
like the timing is exact on the store stopping. It is around an hr however
the first time down took 2 hrs, the second 1 hour but the next was 1:05 it
seems.
Oh well, I told them it was a trial, they can always go back to MS
Postoffice and get rid of the XP/Outlook 03 PC's ;)
