Hi All,
I am in the process of following through Q297289 "How to move Exchange 2000
to new hardware and keep the server name". My added complication is that my
Exchange server is also a domain controller so I am enquiring about the
procedure for following the above document with DC recovery also.
I currently have 3 domain controllers so it's not going to be the last one
and I have more than one GC. Assuming the domain controller has no FSMO roles
can I assume the below procedure in replacing the server?
1. Remove broken domain controller from AD Users and Computers and from Site
and Services
2. Build a new machine with the same config (computer name + IP)
3. DCPromo the server to bring it back as a DC to the domain
4. Follow MS document 297289 to restore Exchange
The bit I'm not too sure about is whether I should remove the AD objects
from AD before I add the new server to it. Would this mess up the Exchange
settings?
Thanks
