Even a cheap & cheerful NetGear/Linksys would be OK. I prefer Sonicwalls if
you're going to go that route & can't afford a PIX, etc....but something
needs to be set up at the perimeter of your network to block all inbound
traffic you don't absolutely need to let in, and perhaps all outbound
traffic you don't absolutely need to let out.

You also need good Exchange-aware antivirus software that can scan all
inbound/outbound mail & all mailboxes, and block dangerous attachment types.

Why?

Then you picked a pretty complicated/expensive mail server, if that's all
you need. Have you looked into what you're missing? Try opening up mailboxes
in Outlook, or even OWA, and compare features. Calendars, shared folders,
etc. ?
