What is the OS you are running where you run IE to access the mailbox via
OWA? Have you tried accessing the same mailbox using a different computer,
    OS, or version of IE?

I do know that the IE lockdown functionality of Windows 2003 server does
cause some problems when using IE on Windows 2003 to access OWA on an
Exchange Server. The way to get around this problem is to not be on a
Windows 2003 server when reading email or add http://ExchangeServer to the
"Local Intranet" or "Trusted Sites" security zone.
