Tim:
well, i found out, that i cannot recreate any log files.
after having read the formidable guide to disaster recovery
for exchange 2000, it seems, that my transactions logs that
clogged up the hdd have been somehow shot to hell.
information store probably did not shut down cleanly and
now wants to read missing information from the (now)
non-existent transaction logs to bring the database to the
current status at shutdown.
i have done as you recommended. my error logs in the
application log show the following:
event-id: 100, source: ese98
iformation store(2308) the database module 6.00.4417.0005
has been started.
event-id: 102, source: ese98
information store(2308) the database has startet a new
instance (0).
event-id: 455, source: ese98
information store(2308)error-1811 while opening the
protocol-file c:\programs\exchsrvr\mdbdata\E0000DCA.log.
event-id: 101, source: ese98
information store (2308) the database has been halted.
event-id: 9518, source: MSEchangeIS
i will not repeat the description since it is too long, but
it indicates, that the protocol-file is missing.
event-id: 9175, source: MSExchangeSA
The MAPI-call "OpenMSgStore" failed with the following
error message:
The Microsoft Exchange server computer cannot be reached,
the network does not reply or the server has been shut down
for maintenance. ...
id no: 8004011d-0526-0000000000
the rest is just follow-ups for these error messages.
this sounds like i need to use eseutil with the switches
/mh and /p in order to repair the database and then restore
it.
does this sound like a feasible solution?
thanks in advance,
nick
