I am using a exchange 2003 and am in the process of testing out disaster
recovery. I am going to do a exchange member server recovery. I have done
backups of the existing exchange server which includes all exchange
databases and drives, system state etc.
I just want to check what the recovery server would need. Does it need to
be identical hardware as the original. I dont think it does.
Also when I install reinstall windows 2003 OS on the recovery server do i
install it in a workgroup initially, and then restore the system state
backup. Would the system state connect it back to the domain and give its
original netbios name.
Once I have restored the system state, I can install exchange 2003 by using
the disaster recovery switch. Then do the exchange backups.
I have checked Micorsoft exchange DR guide but its not that clear. Can
anyone clear the above points.
