Hi TJ,
Based on that information I would say that your server is doing fine.
Remember that every action taken in exchange requires that we generate a
transaction. So if we look and you have 8 users they have only generated
130Mb worth of transactions in the last 6 hours. That is really not too
bad. Maybe a bit high ... but if each of your users send one email with a
5mb attachment that will be 40Mb of transaction logs right there.
Also there are a number of things that the server does on its own depending
on what you request of it. Generating search tables a very common action on
an Exchange server will also cause transactions to be recorded. If you have
only generated 26 log files in the last 6 hours I would say you are doing
fine.
What we look for in high log file growth situation is large numbers of log
files > 3-5 per minute being generated minute in and minute out. That is
indicative of a looping message, or other runaway process. If there are
gaps >2 min between your log files and there is not a regular burst pattern
too them then you are just looking at normal log file growth.
With log file growth it is not only the amount that are generated but the
patter of how they are generated.
Please feel free to post up a section of a dir output from your log file
directory ... please include the majority of a day or at least a 4 hour
segment, and I will be happy to look at it for a patter of log file growth.
But otherwise just take your full backups to purge the log files and don't
worry about it unless you see the patterns I indicated above.
Hope this Helps,
--
