Dear Irene,
Thank you for your post!
I understand that you have configured Front End to relay the message
generated from Linux box, but it fails. Please let me know if I am off
base. I am not sure how you configured Front End Server, I recommend you
try the following steps to see if it makes a difference:
1. Open Exchange System Manager on the Front End server.
2. Expand the following container Administrative Groups-> [AG]-> Servers->
[FE Server]-> Protocols-> SMTP.
3. Right click Default SMTP Virtual Server and click Properties.
4. Click Access tab and click Relay button.
5. Add the Linux box IP address.
6. Configure Linux to forward the email to FE Server.
7. Restart the SMTP service on FE and test the issue again.
Also, I would like to use Telnet to test the issue:
1. On the Linux box, type telnet FE_FQDN 25 and press enter.
2. Type helo domain.com and enter.
3. Type mail from: yourname@xxxxxxxxxx and enter.
4. Type rcpt to: recipient@xxxxxxxxxx and enter.
5. Type data and enter.
6. Type subject: test and enter.
7. Type test and enter.
8. Type . and enter to quit the session.
Can you send the email or do you receive any error message? If the problem
persists, I would like to collect SMTP log for further analysis:
1. Start Exchange System Manager.
2. Expand "Servers\<Your_ Server_Name>\Protocols\SMTP".
3. Right-click "SMTP Virtual Server", and then click "Properties".
4. On the "General" tab, click to select the "Enable Logging "check box.
5. In the "Active Log Format" list, click" W3C Extended Log File Format".
6. Click "Properties".
7. Click Extended Properties tab and check all the options.
8. Reproduce the problem and generate the log file again.
10. Please email me the log to my work working email address:
wensun@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hope it helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further
problems.
Thanks & regards,
Wen Sun
