This sounds like it is setup correctly. If you look on the Exchange Advanced
tab (I believe), there should be a delivery restrictions panel - can anyone
send mail tot he group?

The group is certainly mail enabled as you can email it internally. The mail
store should be null - mail store is only populated when you have a mailbox
(e.g. a user). DLs don't actually store any mail.

What happens if you email the alias from outside the lan?
