Ignoring a smarthost

Since I am behind a firewall, I am required to use a smarthost to send
e-mail out into the world. However, I would like to send e-mails to a
particular domain (2003 .pvt) that doesn't exist to anyone except my
domain. Is there a way to set a filter in exchange that if the domain
is x.y.pvt, then use DNS, otherwise use the smarthost?
I am using Exchange 2003 with no Service Pack.

Thanks
Matt
