Hi Mark
I would like to know if there is any error code associated with this
message. If the error code is 5.7.1 or 5.7.3 i have the following solution.
The four most common causes for these NDRs are the following:
NDRs that contain a 5.7.1 error code occur if the Allow computers which
successfully authenticate to relay check box is not selected on the Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server.
To locate this check box:
In Exchange System Manager, expand Servers, expand the container for your
server, expand Protocols and then expand SMTP.
Right-click the SMTP virtual server, and then click Properties.
Click the SMTP virtual server's Access tab, and then click Relay.
NDRs that contain a 5.7.1 error code occur if the Domain Name System (DNS)
tables are not configured correctly. Ensure that mail exchanger (MX)
records point to the correct SMTP virtual server. If DNS is not configured
correctly, incoming SMTP connection attempts might randomly connect to the
wrong SMTP virtual server.
Although the DNS records exist that point the domain to the server running
Exchange 2000, the matching recipient policy might not exist. Recipient
policies control the behavior of SMTP in addition to the proxy addresses
that are stamped on users. For each domain supported by your DNS
configuration, there should be a recipient policy. For more information
about creating or updating recipient policies, see "To create new recipient
policies," later in this tip.
NDRs that contain a 5.7.1 error code occur if users have e-mail addresses
that were created manually but do not match any existing recipient
policies. As a general rule, proxy addresses should match at least one
recipient policy. For more information about creating or updating recipient
policies, see "To create new recipient policies," later in this tip.
5.7.1 and 5.7.3 errors might also occur if you are using Microsoft Internet
Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000. If the external IP address of
the server running ISA Server changes, and the IP address for the SMTP
publishing rule is not updated to reflect the new IP address, an NDR
results. In addition, if you do not restart the Isactrl service after
changing the IP address in the SMTP publishing rule, an NDR results.
To create new recipient policies
In Exchange System Manager, expand the Recipients object, then expand the
Recipient Policies object.
Right-click Default Policy, and then click Properties.
To add a new SMTP address, on the E-Mail Addresses tab, click Add.
In the SMTP Address Properties dialog box, in Address, type the domain you
use for the manually entered e-mail addresses.
In the Default Policy Properties dialog box, click the E-Mail Address tab,
and then click to select the check box next to the SMTP address that you
just created.
Click Apply. Click OK when you receive the following notification:
The e-mail addresses of types [SMTP] have been modified. Do you wantto
update all corresponding recipient e-mail addresses tomatch these new
addresses?
If you want to update these addresses immediately, force the Recipient
Update Service to update your organization and your server running Exchange
2000.
Thank you
Sriram.V

| Quite suddenly, one of the 2 people in a 2-person company could not send
| email to me (the other person). He would get an message from the system
| administrator:
| "You do not have permission to send to this recipient"
|
| Now, before the problem started happening, this person had just created a
| new domain user account to use for himself - there was an issue with the
old
| account, which was deleted.
|
| The problem apparently vanished about a week later, and now I can't email
| him! same error message.
|
| Environment:
| We are both running Outlook 2002 SP2, which connects to an Exchange 2000
| server and also connects to the POP3 and SMTP servers of external ISPs.
Most
| email comes from and goes out through the external servers. Exchange is
| really only used to share public folders, calendars, tasks, etc. between
the
| two people in our small company. We each work out of our home offices; we
| each have a Win2k multi-master domain controller (which comprise a single
| domain) that also is our local Exchange server. The public folders are
| replicated across servers through a VPN connection between our offices.
| Outlook is configured with 2 accounts (1 for Exchange and 1 for the ISP).
| Email to each other does not go through ISPs (just through Exchange).
|
| Any help would be appreciated.
|
| Mark
