Hi,

Im having trouble getting exchange 2000 to receive smtp mail. I can telnet
to the ip on port 25 "internally" and from an "external" ip. I have 2 domain
MX records (via A records) pointing to the fqdn but im more worried about
getting it working internally first.

Internally I have a firewall producing logs that is supposed to be sending
log files to my exchange server ip. This firewall is on the same subnet as
the exchange server. When sending logs to an external mail server it works
well.

To sumarise:
- I can telnet from external IP to port 25.
- Firewall logs work to external mail server so firewall ok.
- I can also use outlook to send to internal and external domains.
- I cannot get any external mail or firewall logs to appear on internal mail
server.

I can only conclude that there is something not setup correctly with the
smtp service or recipet policy, hence any external mail just doesn't hit the
server (i.e is there anyway to tell).

NOTE: The firewall email setup simply prompts for a mail server IP and email
address.

Thanks for any advice.
Scott.
