Re: PF Admin tool & Administrative Rights

Hi Henning,

Actually I am testing with our lab server and the Ex admin path is
slightly different.

http://EXIEPTMB22/Exadmin/EXLAB.COM/PUBLIC%20FOLDERS/RajTest%20Administrative/

This path is correct in the server. My account has full admin rights to the
folder 'RajTest%20Administrative'

I successfully received full information from the folder (size, create date,
security descriptor and so on). I verified the information, which is correct.
I tried to update the security descriptor for the same path but getting
401(Unauthorized) exception.

If I add the same account as client member as owner, using the same code and
the same path I am able to get/update security descriptor!

The interesting this is if I try the same path in Internet explorer, I get
‘Page cannot be found error’. I contacted our exchange team and they told me
that it may not be possible to render EXAdmin path through IE and also told
me that Exchange System Manager (ESM) using the same path and it works fine!
please help.

Thanks for your help

Rajesh

Hi Henning,

Thanks

I got the correct path. Now I am getting security descriptor of the folder
using admin account but not able to set the security descriptor! My Admin
account has full admin permissions such as 'Control Access', 'Modify
public
folder ACL', 'Modify public folder admin ACL', 'Modify public folder
deleted
item retention', 'Modify public folder expiry', 'Modify public folder
quotas'
and so on but getting exception - 'The remote server returned an error:
(401) Unauthorized.' Please help.

Thanks

Rajesh

Hello,

not quite :-)

if your primary smtp domain is conto.local, then the admin path would
be
http://server/exadmin/admin/contoso.local/public folders

hey thanks Henning for the response ...

so If root folder path is something like http://EXIEPTMB22/public,

what should be the real path I have to use.

THanks Again

Hello,

instead of http://server/exchange/username/folder use
http://server/exadmin/admin/<primarydnsdomainname>/mbx/username/folder

for public folders use http
http://server/exadmin/admin/<primarydnsdomainname>/public
folders/foldername
(yes, there is a space in the name).

Any user which has administrative permissions on the exchange
server
should
work here.

Hi All,

This is a new question related to my last one titled,
'Administrative
account to connect to exchange server?'

As I heard about PFAdmin tool, it uses webDav technology and
this
tool
able
to use administrative accounts to add/update/delete folder and
folder
member
roles!

My C# Application uses same technology(webDav,webRequest) but
not
able to
add/update/delete folder member roles using administrative
account
but
able
to do using client accounts...

So how PF ADmin tool connecting to get/set security descriptor ?
what
credential uses to connect....

Looking for an answer....

Thaks in Advance

Rajesh
