hi, im trying to install exchange 2003 and this is the first time i have
tried installing this. I have windows server 2000 and i have got past
the first 3 steps
I am doing the dcdiag part and i am typing this in to the command prompt
dcdiag /f:log.txt
which doesnt do anything but take me back to the prompt. if i try
dcdiag
though i get
Performing initial setup:
***Error: chris is not a DC. Must specify /s:<Domain Controller> or
/n:<Naming Context> or nothing to use the local machine.
I am the only account on here and i login with admininistrator, password
so i must be the complete admin of the server and i checked the user's
bit under Administrative tools and the login administrator is there. I
did notice i am CHRIS/Administrator but i can login with either
admininsrator or Administrator or CHRIS\Administrator with the same
password and all work and all are the same account. So i cant work out
why it says i am not admin
i have tried
dcdiag /s:administrator
and this gives me
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.CHRIS>dcdiag /s:CHRIS\Administrator
DC Diagnosis
Performing initial setup:
An error cocured during DNS host lookup
I am connected to the internet though a router if that effects anything.
I have installed IIS but if i go into services and try to start say SMTP
which i disables i get the error 1068: The dependancy server or group
failed to start. I am thinking i ight need to re-install win 2000 to
corect this.
Any help
Thanks
Chris
