Is it your side issuing the "Quit" for sure?
If so can you enable logging on the firewall? On the Transport Service
under Diagnostic logging on the server you can enable logging as well? I
have not seen an issue with Exchange killing connections unless it has
third-party software installed on it that ties into the SMTP Service via
sych's in the Metabase and monitor port 25.

| Robert - have done the NetMon trace, but only got a
| confirmation of what I've shown in the SMTP logs below.The
| conversation appears to go as expected to frame 7
| (Requested mail action okay...), then frame 8 (in the non-
| working scenario) is the "Cmd: Quit, losing connection..."
| which looks to be initiated *our* end...
