If you are using DNS to resolve host names the following test will tell what
records your DNS queries are returning.

Go to a command prompt and type the following
=================================
1. c:\>nslookup [enter] You should get your default DNS server name and IP
address.
2. >set type=mx [enter]
3. >mindspring.com

What you should get back are the MX records and Host (A) records. Ultimately
Exchange needs the IP address in order to send the message. MX records point
the fully qualified domain name an the A records point to the IP address.
See the example output below.

mindspring.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx12.mindspring.com
mindspring.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = mx13.mindspring.com
mx12.mindspring.com internet address = 207.69.200.17
mx13.mindspring.com internet address = 207.69.200.154
