We have Windows 2000 server, running exchange 2000.
When I try to send to an earthlink or mindspring account I get the following
return:

user@mindspring.com on 3/30/2004 11:09 AM
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<mail.ourserver.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 relaying to user@mindspring.com>
prohibited by administrator

But I only get this from earthlink accounts. I spoke to their tech support,
and they initially told me we were listed as spam, I was given a number for
their spam abuse desk and left a message, several days later they call me
back and tell me that I am sending to an A record instead of MX, or I had a
problem with DNS.
When I explained that I dont believe this is true, as I can send to every
other domain in the world, he said if I could prove the problem was not my
exchange server trying to send to the A record that I would have to call
microsoft, as it was their problem.

So how can I verify this? What do I need to do to show that I am sending to
the A record and not the MX?

Am I alone in this, or is anybody else getting this right now?
