Contact distributionlist created in OWA is not accessible in Outlo

In outlook I open the contact distribution list I created in OWA, I get an
error message states that the system is out of memory... Also, our daily
backup job is not able to backup the contact dist. list because it is in use
( which is not true.) However, I was able to use the dist. List in OWA to
send emails. We are running Exchange 2000 w/ front end - back end server
setup.
Anyone know why and give me advice to fix this problem?
