Server ActiveSync causes email corruption

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have an Exchange 2000 server and have recently set up a server containing
Server ActiveSync only. This was so I could support new Windows Mobile
PocketPC clients across the internet. I got ActiveSync working once the SSL
requirements were met. Windows Mobile Clients can Sync and Send/Receive
email. But a problem came up that I don't know how to resolve.
It seems that anytime a PocketPC forwards an email to an internal
recipient the resulting email items on both the recipient & sender mailboxes
are corrupt on the Exchange Server. Outlook 2003 responds with "Can't open
this item. Unknown error." when the items are openned.
The same thing happens when a PocketPC sends emails with attachments or
FWD's emails to external recipients. The difference here is that ony the
senders item in Sent Items is corrupt. The recipient gets the email OK.
Another twist is that Outlook Web Access can open the items that Outlook
2003 cannot. The email and all attachments are readable. OWA cannot Reply
or FWD these emails. The window that would allow composing a reply appears
to hang. If a user has one of these corrupt emails in a folder to be SYNC'd
then sync fails and an HTTP Status 422 appears in the ActiveSync server
Application Event Log. Deleting the corrupt item allows ActiveSync to
complete successfully.
I have tried to decipher network traces & NexTag dumps of sync events but I
am not knowledgeable enough to detect any errors in the ActiveSync
transactions.
I am currently applying all Windows Updates and patches to my ActiveSync
server and Exchange server.
Does anyone have any ideas on where to look next?

Thanks.
