Many text files in my MDBDATA folder

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hello,
I have a server with Win 2000 Server SP4, Exchange 2000 Server SP3. I found
that I am out of disk space on this server, and after I looked into the
folders I found that the MDBDATA folder of the exchange contains many text
files (about 1300 file) each is 5MB and there names are: E0000001, E0000002,
E0000003, ... etc. What are these files ? and can I delete them? they are
taking about 6GB of the harddisk
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards

.
