NDR

I just wanted to know when sending an email, exchange identifies the email as
NDR and replies back to the as a non deliverable. I know the sender can
retrieve the email from the sent item. But does that NDR go anywhere? Just
disappear? or in the bad mail folder, that folder is email with no
addresse's.? If they are moved to bad mail folder then would be impossible to
find set by message id.
So where does the email go, right back to the sender as a notification? then
if the sender presses 'Send again' option it retrieves it from somewhere.
Thanks
