Size of Public Folder/edb & stm files

Hi,

I have recently deleted a large amount out of our Public Folders and the
total size is about half of what the pub1.stm file is.

i.e.

pub1.stm is 14.6gig
pub1.edb is 1.6gig

The total size of out Public Folders are 7.4gig


I need to recover this space, as we are getting a little close to the 16gig
maximum allowed in Exchange, plus it would free up some space on the backup
tape.

In Exchange I have already setup and run on a daily basis the Maintenance
schedule and this shows little free space.

I assume the only way to recover the space is to run an off-line compaction
using eseutil /d <dabasename>

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
