The smtp issue as identified by "anon coward" (love that handle) has
merit but isn't a show stopper.
Let him have his POP3 but make sure you SSL enable it and close tcp
110 on the firewall. Open 995.
Talk to him about the differences between POP and IMAP. You might find
IMAP is better for him. Talk about the calendaring limitations in
POP/IMAP
As for smtp, configure him so that he uses the smtp relay of the ISP
he dials into or uses as his broadband provider. Don't go opening smtp
for this one user to relay through unless it's absolutley vital.
