Hy lee,
I think that we have a misunderstanding. I try to give an example how we use
the public folder and what problem we have.
In one public folder we collect emails from the backup Server send
automatically to a public folder with an email address like
backup@company.xxx. On the exchange Server "maintain per-user read and unread
for this folder" in not enabled for this public folder. There are 3 admins
with the "publishing editor" permission and two admins with "owner"
permission. In the past, when one admin read emails the email has been mark
as read. Someday the mails want be mark as read after reading. :-(
Now we contact you and try all the stuff that you send us, no changes. Than
we found a treat and do this on the exchange server:
I enable maintain per user read/ unread status at the top level, then
propagated this to all subfolders. They then worked as expected.
Emails will be mark as read for every admin, this means is somebody read the
email "backup one" it will be mark as read for this user, the other see this
emails "backup on" as not mark, if the other read the mail "backup one" the
mail will also mark as read.
I changed / re-enable on the exchange Server for the folder maintaining per
user. After changing, the folders cannot be mark as read, from nobody.
Normally email must be mark as read? And this is the problem that we have,
emails will be only mark as read if you enable the "maintain per-user read
and unread for this folder" on the exchange server.
I hope this is helping, to understand and resolve the problem.
Greetings
.luciano.
