I have tested both SMTP and POP3 connection. The POP3 server can work
properly. However, I cannot log on the SMTP server. I get the same symptom
as what is described in this KB article:

320027 Cannot send or receive e-mail messages behind a Cisco PIX firewall
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320027

Try this step from both internal and external connection: In the console
mode, run command:

telnet YourServerName 25

to log on the SMTP server. Would you see the same welcome banner? It seems
that the external connection will be blocked the firewall in front of your
Exchange server. So please temporarily disable the firewall to further test
this issue.

If the problem can be solved by allowing all relay on the SMTP virtual
server, can you see the correct banner from external logon at that time?

Pat Cai
