If its a small number of people, i would suggest you add them to the new
domain, by default the username on the local machines is username, if that
exists or there is a problem, it becomes username.domain and username.001
etc, if my memory recalls. What I have done in the past is made sure all
mail is on the local machine, presuming there are not thousands of users,
log the system onto the new domain, logon as the users, which will append
the new name to the username.new domain in the "documents and settings".
>From there copy the contents of the old profile into the new profile, and
resetup outlook. Reason for doing it this way, by logging on first, windows
recreats and sets permission to the dir created for the new user.

For joining the domain, being clever you could use the netdom tool, which
will allow you to join the domain with a script, this could be deployed
before the change and then setup in some way to join the domain after a set
reboot or something. This is presuming the host names are the same,
passwords will change, although you can keep user accounts the same.

Hope this is moving in a constructive direction.
