I have been working on this problem for a couple weeks now, and I am
desperately trying to avoid a reinstall! This install is less than 6 months
old!!!
Config:
Windows 2000 server SP4, domain controller, only server in the domain. Exchange
2000 server SP3 with August 2004 rollup on same machine. Server is patched and
up to date.
Since the install back in April, we haven`t had any serious problems with
Outlook Web Access. About two weeks ago, it just decided to quit, and started
giving "HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable" error messages when users would log
in from home. I get the same error message if I type in
"http://
prompted for a user name and password, and the server seems to be accepting it.
If I go to the M: drive through windows explorer, I can see the mailbox for the
user I am logged in as. The Exchange virtual directory is set to
"M:\<domain_name>\MBX", and I have tried "M:" and "\\.\BackOfficeStorage" for
the Exadmin virtual directory in IIS. If I got to Exchange System Manager, our
organization, Folders, Public Folders, I get a c1030af3 "The HTTP service used
by Public Folders is not available" message.
I have applied SP3 as well as the rollup which went well, but didn`t solve any
problems. I have also tried KB articles 282230 and 305030 which invloved
re-registering .dll`s, using the DCOM configuration utility, and removing
davex.dll. I have also verified the permissions on the MDBDATA folder and the
appropriate registry keys.
Anyone have any ideas? I am almost considering suggesting going back to
Groupwise!
