Hi Eric,
Thanks for your posting back.
Unfortunately, it is unable to create a recipient policy to add X500
address for all the users. However, we can use the Csvde Utility to add
X500 address for a number of account. To do so:
1. Export the address from GAL. Use the Csvde command as following:
"c:\winnt\system32\csvde -f <ourputfile_locase>".
2. Use Excel to open the CSV file.
3. In the .csv file, without deleting the header, delete the contents of
the E-mail Addresses column.
4. Apply the following formula to the E-mail Addresses column:
="X500:/o=<OldOrgNameHere>/ou=<OldSiteNameHere>/cn=Recipients/cn="<cell of
user alias>
Example In the following example, <e2> is the cell where the alias is
listed for this user:
="X500:/o=OldOrgNameHere/ou=OldSiteNameHere/cn=Recipients/cn="&<e2>
Important The cell format must be set to "General". Enter the formula in
the appropriate column for the first user, and then use the AutoFill
feature in Excel to apply the formula to the rest of the users.
5. Import the .csv file back into Exchange Server.

|Yes, you understand the problem. Isn't there a way that
|I could define a recipient policy so that all my users
|get their same alias on the X500 address of the old
|server without requiring me to go to each user by hand
|and edit them? I was able to do that for my smtp
|address, why not X500?
|
|Thanks again as always!

|>From your post, my understanding on this issue is: The
|users received NDR
|>5.1.2 when replying messages which are send before
|migration. If I have
|>misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.
|>
|>Based on my knowledge, this issue is mostly cased by the
|missing X.500
|>address for the original server. This behavior is due to
|the migration
|>method you used. You create new accounts in the Exchange
|2003 server, and
|>Export/Import mailboxes to perform the migration using
|Exmerge. In this
|>way, the migrated user only has a single X.400 and X.500
|e-mail address,
|>which points to the Exchange 2003 server. The X.500
|address is used to
|>enable replies from the old site to be redirected to the
|correct user in
|>the new site. Therefore, when you reply to the old mail,
|the message tries
|>to deliver to the original Exchange 5.5 DN

|the original
|>Exchange 5.5 server,

|>To resolve the issue, you may have to manually add X.500

|>2. Highlight a user and open its properties.
|>
|>3. Click the E-mail Addresses tab, click New,
|click "Custom Address" and

|>
|>4. In the E-mail Address box, type the DN from the old
|server:
|> "/o=<organization>/ou=<site>/cn=<Recipients
|Container>/cn=<alias>"
|>(without the quotation marks)
|>
|>5. In the E-mail type box, type "X500" (without the

|>There are many methods that you can use to find a user's
