Exchange logs taking up space

Exchange is filling up with transaction logs and clients
are getting the following messgae:

" outlook is retrieving data from microsoft exchange
server "SERVERNAME" you can cancel this request or
minimimize this message to windows taskbar untill outlook
closes the message automatically."

Any help is much appreciated.
