I finally had some time to try this with a fresh reinstall of the OS,
and the setup /disasterrecovery did work and I have all the Exchange
2000 services available. I continued with the instructions in the
Microsoft KB article - ran update /disasterrecovery from Exchange 2000
SP3, and then applied the same post SP3 hotfix as on my production
Exchange 2000 server.
Then I restored from a production backup, and I was able to start all
Exchange services, and mount the Information Store and Public Store.
However, when I open an Outlook profile to my mailbox on the
"restored" Exchange 2000 server, it says there are no items in the
view. In Exchange System Manager, under the Information Store
mailboxes, I see two items for my mailbox/username. One item is 0
size, and the other item is what I expect it to be.
What's missing from what I'm doing? It seems like the AD user object
isn't being linked to the Exchange mailbox after the restore. Might
it have something to do with the production Active Directory domain
and test Active Directory domain being different enough after the
initial "replica" creation of the test domain from production domain?
Thanks in advance for any input.
