Restore IS in lab environment

I've read everything there is to read about restoring in a lab
environment. I have my orphaned DC with a GC and all the FSMO roles
seized. My exchange 2000 server was rebuilt in disasterrecovery mode
with the same service pack as my production and hotfixes. Active
Directory works fine in the lab network.

After doing a restore of my Information Store which contains 4
databases with my Syncsort Backup Express, the databases don't mount.
I have done the restore multiple times. The error I get when trying to
mount the databases is "An internal processing error has occurred. Try
restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange
Information Store service, or both."

I've also checked the box in system manager for "This database can be
overwritten by restore." And the database and log directories are
correct.

I've read the Q253931 article on this error and have tried the ESEUTIL
/cc but that bombs out too. The error is "unknown error unknown
error." ESEUTIL /CM doesn't list any database logs that aren't my
[path to directory containing Restore.env]

It sounds like a I did everything right but I can't get the databases
to mount.

Does anybody who's done this have any suggestions?
