slow AD add or properties after mounting stores from crashed domai

I did a clean install of SBS 2k after a crash. I was able to retrieve my
edb's and stm's and mounted then in the rebuilt SBS Exchange. (The mail
boxes all have red Xs beside them.) All my interfaces to AD Users and Groups
are taking 15 to 20 seconds to open. Is this because AD and Exch Stores are
out of sync until I associate the old mailboxes with the newly created user?
If not, any advise on how to speed things up. Everything else runs at normal
speeds only AD functionl are effected.
