Raid Configuration and location of Exch2007 files.

I currently have Exchange 2003 Standard Edition and I want to transition to
Exchange 2007 Standard Edition. I purchased a server for Exchange 2007
Standard Edition to be installed on. This 64-bit server has 2-quad core
processors and 16GB of memory. My question is relating to the hard drive
configuration: It has 8 – 146GB 10K drives in a raid configuration as
follows:
Virtual Disk 0 = disk 0 - disk 1 = Raid 0
Virtual Disk 1 = disk 2 - disk 7 = Raid 5
Virtual Disk 0 contains C: = 12GB; and E: = 124GB
Virtual Disk 1 contains D: = 680GB
I do not have any HOT Spares set up for either virtual disk.
Currently Windows 2003 SP2 resides on drive C: is the only software that is
on this server now.
1. To optimize (best practice) this server for the Exchange 2007, is this
Raid configuration optimal or do I need to reconfigure it? If so how?
2. Based on question 1, which drives would be optimal for:
a. Operating System?
b. Exchange Server 2007 server program files?
c. Log files?
d. Database files?
e. Any other files needed for Exchange 2007?
I looked at the technet article aa996719 – Exchange 2007 System
Requirements, but I couldn’t find what I am asking.
Thank you -
