I have checked all the settings SMTP virtual server and they have not

on the domain no problem.

Could this be an anti-virus issue all of a sudden?

Sure, I suppose so.

Or maybe not
successfully authenticating?

That's what it sounds like. Check the client, I guess. Try a telnet session.

I don't allow relay on my servers, so I'm not sure what else you can check,
sorry. What's the reason you're using this instead of RPC over HTTP? For Mac
users there's Entourage 2008 (or 2004, which is not quite as good).

HELP!

I am using IMAP on my Exchange 2003 server and all has been well
using the SMTP server to send mail as long as authentication is
enabled (using port 25) and all of a sudden users can not send
mail using the SMTP server. 1 User just reported a 0X800CCC62
when trying to send through Outlook but that led me no where.

Thanks!

Have you tested yourself using OE on a LAN-connected computer?
Have you checked to ensure the authenticated relay settings are
still as you wish in the properties of your virtual SMTP server?

FWIW, I wouldn't enable IMAP (although it's a sight better than
POP3). Internal and external users can use Outlook/MAPI connections
to the mailbox, the external ones via RPC over HTTP. No relay is
needed. Using Exchange for IMAP is kind of a waste.

No settings have changed that I can find - after further testing I
can send to users who have an exchange mailbox just not external
addresses.
Thanks

Double check the SMTP virtual server for its relay settings.
Something is not set up right in there.
