Thank you for all your responses. I have an important conf call tomorrow
and I am prepared.

But, I could not find anything on the Inet to how storage groups were
organized. With E2K3, I organized databases according to groups, ie,
engineering has a db; sales and marketing a db but I am not sure if this is
the way to go with E2K7.

So any info you can provide on how NetApp has their databases or storage
groups organized would be so much appreciated.

And to all who responded many thanks and if you want to join in on this one,
I welcome any ideas!

On NetApp:
One Volume has one LUN in it and one database inside that LUN.
On Exchange:
One Storage Group contains one database.
Fifty databases (or five for Standard) per server

Put the SNAPINFO on the same LUN as the transaction logs. Yes, the
Logs volume & LUN needs to be larger than you might expect, unless of
course you're only keeping a couple of days worth of snaps.

It's irrelevant who you put inside the stores. One important thing
though is to spread out those BlackBerry users so you're not hammering
a set of logs.

Also, talk to NetApp about your aggregates. Old style best practices
call for two aggregates and for the logs and stores to be split, much
like traditional RAID. Under a lot of circumstances we no longer say
to split the aggregates. Logs and Stores can go on the same agg.
Benefits are that you get all that extra spindle performance but the
downside is that some people will be rolling the rosaries and
clutching their chest in mock shock.

If you want formal advice from NetApp just engage your partner. If
they need to engage a NetApp CSE and you're on the east coast then I
look forward to speaking to you!
