Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 Migration options

Hello

Currently we have this setup

Single Physical Site (one data centre)

In our Active Directory which is implemented in Windows 2003 we have setup
two sites

In site 1 we have placed two 32-bit domain controllers, one 64-bit domain
controller ; this site services our applications

In the second site we have two 64-bit domain controllers which service our
exchange 2003 environment, all mailbox servers are configured to be in Site 2

Our exchange 2003 environment consists of the following:

Back-end as follows:

i) Single EVA 8100
ii) 3 Cluster Sets each cluster set is made up of 2 Active Nodes and 1
Passive Node
iii) Approximately 50,000 users roughly 7500 users per Active Node

Front-end as follows:

i) 3 OWA servers in NLB

We need to deploy another 15,000 Users over the course of the next year.

We want to look at the possibility of moving to Exchange 2007; we need High
Availability (HA) for all services

How would we go about implementing our new users on Exchange 2007 mailbox
servers?

i) Would we need to upgrade our OWA servers? HA option
ii) Would we need to implement Hub Transport Servers? HA option again
iii) Back-end mailbox servers in Exchange 2007 in HA? ; I prefer to CCR but
the storage costs might be out of budget (depends) ; hence we might settle
for SCC
iv) Should we deploy Exchange boxes on Windows 2008 or Windows 2003?
V) Can implement this in an virtual environment?

Another factor to consider .. We also need to look at the possibility of DR
to our second Data Centre in the next few years!!

Second Data Centre which is only a mile away and we have dark fibre
redundancy between the sites .. why we were thinking CCR spread over two data
centres?

Good idea CCR over two data centres any experience out there?

DR costs would be reduced on storage alone did a comparison a while back.

Other option long-term DR could be done using SCR but would it be ok with SCC?

thanks sorry about the heaviness of question .. kind of have my views and
answers need to bash with some peers hard being a geek stuck in back room!!!

Jat
