Add a send connector with an address space of "*" without the quotes.

This has been asked a couple of times, but there has been no solution
posted
that I could see.

Brand new installation of Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64
New forest with single domain
Latest Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise with SP1

Installed on a physical server, no updates to Windows available.

During Pre-Check I get the following error:

Warning:
Setup cannot detect an SMTP or Send connector with an address space of
'*'.
Mail flow to the Internet may not work properly.

When continued, installation stops at Hub Transport and fails saying
"Unable
to start services."

I would really like to get this resolved if someone could please help.
