Re: Unable to telnet into port 25

My response:

Your test may not be making it out. Be sure that the network you're doing
the telnet from allows outbound TCP port 25 traffic. A lot of them don't.

That is, some ISPs don't allow port 25 outbound except through their own
SMTP servers as an antispam measure. Your boss may have to configure his
Outlook Express to send outbound mail to his ISP's SMTP server.

I'm having the same problem as you describe. I've set the firewall rules
to
0. everything works except the SMTP port 25. it's really frustrating cos
my
boss chooses to use outlook express instead of exchange.

I can download my mails. I just cannot send. but if i'm on my internal
network, it works just find.

Have you found the solution for this?

Hi, we setup a new Windows 2003 Server / Exchange Server 2003 and are
unable to telnet into port 25 from outside of our network. We made
sure there were no firewalls being used (ISA, Windows Firewall and
etc). We also talked to our ISP and they said they are not blocking
port 25 traffic. They also said the router they installed, which they
won't give us access too, is not set to block any port 25 traffic. Any
ideas here? We need to get this to work so people can use Outlook
Express from outside of the network to send e-mails using this server.
Thanks in advance.
