Re: Distribution list and Recipient update

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

1. Distribution groups and contacts don't reside in Exchange, they reside
in Active Directory. I don't know that there's anything you need to do with
them.
2. Exchange 2007 no longer uses the recipient update service. All
attributes are now added when you create recipients with the EMC or EMS.
3. You shouldn't be trying to do that. Exchange 2007 now has what is known
as e-mail address policies which you manage with EMC or EMS. I believe that
these are initially set to the policy you have set in Exchange 2003, and you
may well want to change them before creating recipients in Exchange 2007.
Changes to your e-mail address policies don't affect your Exchange 2003
recipient policies. Here's where the cmdlets are discussed:

Hi,
Currently, I have Ex2007 MB server and Ex2007 CAS server. We are still
moving mailboxes over from our ex2000 server. Everything else seems
running
well on servers, except-
1. Do I need to "move" distribution groups and Contacts to ex2007 server
or
any steps need to be taken? or they are like security group, not need to
be
moved - before retire ex2000?
2. I discover new address created showing up late on client's outlook (a
day
late). Do I need to do any update on recipient update policy? I have
default
policy. or do some kind of setting changes? It was not like that before
having ex2007
3. If I try to edit the address default policy from ex2007 console, it
says"
unabled to edit the specified e-mail address policy. E-mail address
policies
created with legacy version of Exchnage must be upgraded using the
set-EmailAdressPolicy" task, with exchange 2007 recipient filter
specified" .
I have not found article on how to upadte this. Any additonal info
available?
Thanks!
