Re: Migration trouble 5.5=> 2003

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

In a successful first step, we have migrated (and consolidated) all
NT4-Domains to a W2k3-Domain. Without trouble, all users can access their
mailboxes.
Second step is, to migrate E55 (running on NT4) to W2k3. The Exchange-Server
is already in the W2k3-domain, because the biggest domain, containing the
E55-server was migrated in place.

ADC is installed and running without probs.

The original poster does not say anything about NT4.

how is it on the same domain? you did an in-place upgrade of your PDC to
AD?

Hi,

yes, it is.
It's in the same domain, so we have no trust problems. We have checked
the
permissions hundreds of times. And, no errors when launching the ESM.
This is really ugly. Perhaps, there's something inconsistent in the
E55-directory, but we cannot find something obvious.

yup pretty old, I actually did a 5.5>2003 migration for a company about

months ago, it was a fun project.

Is the trust in place? Does the AD username (which you use to run ESM)
have
full permissions in the 5.5 organazation? any errors when lanching ESM?

Hi everybody,

yeah, i know, E55 is out of support, but perhaps someone knows that
problem.

We wanna migrate E55 to E2003, and therefore install E2003 into E55
organization. We have configured ADC and so on and so on.
The installation of E2003 into E55-organization goes without error.
But:
In E2003 System-Manager i can see the E55-server but only the public
folder
database, not the private db. Therefore, i cannot migrate any
mailbox.
Some
other objects are missing too.
Vice versa the same prob. The E55 admin-tool displays the
E2003-server but
there is only one object ("Microsoft DSA") shown unter this node -
not
enough.

We have tried it dozens of times, checked all accounts etc. It should
work,
but there seems to be something causing this trouble. Evertytime the
same
situation. I think, that there's a problem with the E5.5 directory,
but
first
diagnostics did not find severe probs.
In the E2003 setup log, there's nothing obvious.

Any ideas?

Uli
