Hello Simon,
Thank you for your post.
My name is Robbin Meng, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this
issue!
Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:
You have installed a new Exchange 2007 on Windows 2003 R2 server into your
organization which you have already have an Exchange 2003 server on another
Windows 2003 server. Mail works fine for all accounts on the Exchange 2003
server, sending and receiving both internally and externally via the 2007
server. However, any accounts on the Exchange 2007 server itself cannot
send mails.
If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.
Before we go further, I would like to confirm with you about the following
questions:
1. Can the Exchange 2007 server send mails to the accounts that reside on
the Exchange 2003 server or reside on itself?
2. Is this the only Exchange 2007 server in your orgnization? What roles
have been installed on it?
I have performed some research over the error messages, but didn't find any
clues towards the "mailbox GUID and mailbox database GUID must be
specified" etc. errors. Based on the experience and discussion, I suggest
we try the below steps:
A. Disable any anti-virus and anti-spam software
Based on experience, this kind of issue may occur if the current installed
anti-virus or anti-spam software monitor or block the mail flow.
B. Run Exchange Best Practice Analysis tool(Exchange BPA) on the Exchange
2007 server.
Since Mail works fine for all accounts on the Exchange 2003 server, sending
and receiving, it indicate the database store on Exchange 2007 has some
problems to transport mails from store to Hub components so that mails
generated on itself cannot be delivered. Therefore, we may need to check
BPA result log.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
Please save and compress the Event log files(including Application and
System log) also collect the Exchange BPA log file, then send them to me
at: v-robmen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope these steps will give you some help. Also, if you have any questions
or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for your time and cooperation!
Best regards,
Robbin Meng(MSFT)
