Hi,

If I understand your setup correctly you have installed 2 windows forests.
In this setup the exchange 2003 servers will never be able to see each other
and if you share SMTP domain space you will need to configure this. And you
will need to use a tool to synchronize gal and free/busy information.

If possible you should recreate the setup and have only one forest - this
way you will have one common gal and avoid some of the problems you are
seeing.

I am in the process of testing in a lab environment. I have myEurope
office single Exchange 5.5 server running in VMWare. Their PDC is
also the Exchange server. This is what I have done so far.

1. In place upgrade to AD onHQNT domain.
2. Established trusts betweenHQAD andEuropesite's NT domain.
3. Installed newEuropeAD domain.
4. Created trusts betweenHQAD <->EuropeAD, EuropeAD <->Europe
NT Domain.
5. Ran ADMT onEuropeAD to bring accounts, SSID, and modified
EuropeExchange mailbox owner to newEuropeAD.
6. Installed Exchange 2003 into existing 5.5 Site atHQ. Followed
install steps on Exchange cd.
7. Installed ADC inHQ.
8. Created new mailboxes onHQExchange 2003 and moved mailboxes from
HQ5.5 toHQExchange 2003.
9. Used pfmigrate to setup replicas of public folders onHQExchange
2003.
10. Mail is flowing between all three servers. Mailboxes reside on
all three servers.
11. Installed Exchange 2003 ontoEuropeAD. Created new user. Mail
flows fromEuropeExchange 2003 server toHQ2003 server but notHQ
5.5 server.
12. 5.5 Admin in both sites can see the other 2003 servers but the
System Manager inHQcan't see theEurope2003 server and theEurope
2003 can't see theHQ2003 server.

Questions
1. Do I need the ADC in both HQandEurope? My 1st ADC inHQ
pointed to each 5.5 server in each site.
2. Should I completely upgrade myHQsite to 2003, keep in mixed
mode, and then upgrade my 5.5 site?
3. Why can't my 2003 servers see each other but route mail to one
another?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
James

Hi,
That is correct I have two separate forests. I will recreate and
have my Europe site join my existing forest. Sorry if this is a silly
question...will I only need 1 instances of the ADC? I have read the
ADC documentation numerous times but can't come to a definitive
conclusion.
Thank you for the info and the quick response.

Jamie
