Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 Upgrade - 2 NT Domains and 2 Sites in Same Organization

I am in the process of testing in a lab environment. I have my Europe
office single Exchange 5.5 server running in VMWare. Their PDC is
also the Exchange server. This is what I have done so far.

1. In place upgrade to AD on HQ NT domain.
2. Established trusts between HQ AD and Europe site's NT domain.
3. Installed new Europe AD domain.
4. Created trusts between HQ AD <-> Europe AD, Europe AD <-> Europe
NT Domain.
5. Ran ADMT on Europe AD to bring accounts, SSID, and modified
Europe Exchange mailbox owner to new Europe AD.
6. Installed Exchange 2003 into existing 5.5 Site at HQ. Followed
install steps on Exchange cd.
7. Installed ADC in HQ.
8. Created new mailboxes on HQ Exchange 2003 and moved mailboxes from
HQ 5.5 to HQ Exchange 2003.
9. Used pfmigrate to setup replicas of public folders on HQ Exchange
2003.
10. Mail is flowing between all three servers. Mailboxes reside on
all three servers.
11. Installed Exchange 2003 onto Europe AD. Created new user. Mail
flows from Europe Exchange 2003 server to HQ 2003 server but not HQ
5.5 server.
12. 5.5 Admin in both sites can see the other 2003 servers but the
System Manager in HQ can't see the Europe 2003 server and the Europe
2003 can't see the HQ 2003 server.

Questions
1. Do I need the ADC in both HQ and Europe? My 1st ADC in HQ
pointed to each 5.5 server in each site.
2. Should I completely upgrade my HQ site to 2003, keep in mixed
mode, and then upgrade my 5.5 site?
3. Why can't my 2003 servers see each other but route mail to one
another?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
