Re: Simple Display Name vs. Display Name

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello Phillip,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup and also for Lanwench's input.

I'd like to give you the following information for your reference..

After you applied the hotfix KB 888416, the GAL will not be affected. The
Address Book still display the Display Name under the General tab.

After you install the hotfix, for internal emails, nothing changed. We can
see the Display Name. For external
emails, we will see the Simple Display Name for Sender. Only if the Simple
Display Name has been configured, the Information Store will use it.
Otherwise, it will use Full Display Name.

One thing needs to mention:
If there are internal users in the To line of the external emails, the
Display Name won't change to Simple Display Name. (In one word, the feature
only change the display name for Sender, not Recipients

Hope the information helps.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
